Open Library Time
Parents, did you know that the Highland Grove Library is open each school morning from 7:25-7:45? This gives your student a great opportunity to take an AR quiz while the book is fresh in the mind. Books may also be returned or checked out at this time.
You can help your student by asking the following questions the night before or on the way to school:
~What is the title of the book?
~Who were the main characters?
~What was the setting? When? Where?
~What was the problem in the book?
~What happened at the beginning of the book?
~What happened in the middle of the book?
~What happened in the end of the book?
If all of these questions cannot be answered without looking back at the book or prompting, encourage your student to go back and reread the book or first couple of pages in each chapter before taking the quiz.
For a non-fiction read, students must “study” the book carefully for important facts and content relating to the book’s topic.
Remind your student to read each question carefully and double check the answer that has been selected is the correct answer before clicking “next”.
